“Son malos tiempos para la lírica”, diagnosticó Bertolt Brecht desde su exilio danés en 1939 y, setenta y cinco años después, resulta evidente e indiscutible que tenía razón y que, de hecho, se quedó más bien corto al describir de esa manera el estado de las cosas de lo que fue, al menos desde la perspectiva europea (que es desde la que escribía él), la medianoche del siglo y el ejemplo triste y paradigmático no ya de malos tiempos para la lírica sino de pésimos tiempos para la humanidad. Hoy, muy pese a la bomba nuclear de tiempo en Ucrania, a la exasperante persistencia del conflicto israelí-palestino y a este reprise un poco ridículo de la Gran Depresión a nivel cuasi planetario, entre otras manifestaciones de este cambalache en esteroides que es el siglo XXI, sería difícil argumentar que los tiempos han tocado otra vez fondo y que, aunque de nada sirva, ya casi que sólo quede rezar. Estamos en camino, tal vez, que si calentamiento global y tal, pero todavía no estamos allí. Todavía podemos actuar.
Para la lírica, sin embargo, los tiempos sí son muy malos, un poco porque la lógica mercantilista sigue siendo la que subyace incluso en los horizontes de pensamiento y de vida de los progresistas y anti-neoliberales más declarados, un poco porque nada es para siempre, ni siquiera la lírica, y hay nuevas formas y constelaciones que ocupan cada vez más, y desde luego con todo derecho, su supuesto lugar. Son tiempos de reordenamiento, de mucha poesía oral y visual, de videos virales de recitales de performances basados en poemas urgentes pero también tiempos de un casi completo divorcio entre la lírica, o al menos la lírica organizada de acuerdo a criterios estrictamente literarios de calidad y de honestidad intelectual, y los poderes diversos, incluido el poder político, el poder mediático y el poder cultural.
Son malos tiempos para la lírica, en efecto, pero… ¿cuándo han sido buenos? ¿No tiene la lírica, la buena lírica, algo de ir siempre a contrapelo de los tiempos, de crear sus propios ritmos y tiempos y así, aunque sea a veces nomás de rebote, y sin duda siempre de forma incontrolable e inesperada, hacer posible y pensable un tiempo y un ritmo distinto, un mundo inexistente e inalcanzable pero no por ello menos humanamente necesario?
Todos los tiempos, a su manera, son malos tiempos para la lírica.
Por eso a veces es bueno leer poesía sin tiempo. Y creo que los poemas de Meditar de sirenas son, en cierto sentido, intemporales y, asimismo, carentes de un propio lugar o, mejor, carentes de un lugar determinado que no sea el lugar propio, su tiempo propio.
Ivonne Gordon Carrera Andrade, poeta de amplia trayectoria y de trabajo consistente, continuado y recurrente con el lenguaje, escribe también desde el exilio. El suyo es un exilio voluntario, por supuesto, un exilio que, afortunadamente, obedece a motivos menos trágicos que los de otros exilios (el de Brecht, por ejemplo). Es exilio al fin, no obstante, y como tal contribuye a ese aire indeterminado de su obra que es, al mismo tiempo, el aire de la ubicuidad, el aire del aire, el aire del mar en el que viven, o no, las sirenas, el aire de lo liminal. Esta es, pues, una poesía ubicada entre el silencio y la palabra y en ningún lugar más. Como escribe la misma Ivonne en su poema “Soy palabra”:
Soy palabra,
soy silencio,
y soy la frontera entre Europa y América.
Soy mestiza,
soy lengua y soy tiempo.
Soy frontera.
Soy la frontera que divide el Coloso del norte y el Ariel del sur.
Soy todo y nada,
soy lo que no soy.
Las coordenadas geográficas y culturales son explícitas, entonces, están absolutamente claras, pero no alcanzan para propiamente determinar un sitio sino un abanico de condicionantes y de confluencias que constituye al sujeto poético: así, están presentes, en este poema, tanto Europa en su totalidad como la Grecia clásica por medio del Coloso, pero también el drama shakesperiano y la tradición política y literaria hispanoamericana por medio de Ariel, el pensamiento fronterizo de Anzaldúa y la tautología fundacional de la mitología judeo-cristiana (“yo soy el que soy”), del mismo modo que, más tarde, en el resto del texto, tenemos a Ecuador, Alemania, Grecia, Buda, el idioma hebreo…
Un eclecticismo exagerado, sin duda, un eclecticismo acaso incluso epígono de tradiciones omnipresentes e insuperables pero nunca un eclecticismo que sea meramente producto de la arbitrariedad o del capricho sino de un posicionamiento en el mundo firme pero etéreo, anclado y divagante a la vez, que da vueltas lingüísticas por los recovecos del tiempo y de la memoria histórica sin hacerse propiamente parte concreta de ellos. Para seguir con el poema ya citado: “Mi identidad yace en las plantas de mis pies. / Mi identidad es cruzar la frontera”.
Este tránsito interminable del lenguaje poético en la búsqueda literaria de Ivonne como autora ha venido a dar, entonces, y en este momento preciso (ya que estoy seguro de que habrá más paseos, más extravíos y más reconocimiento de senderos apenas explorados), en Meditar de sirenas, un poemario en cuyo primer poema, “Balcón”, aparecen ya tanto la Atlántida como Orfeo como Odiseo como, bueno, las mismas sirenas, es decir una serie de referencias a una historia que, como la griega y la europea en general, nos es, a todos, al mismo tiempo propia y ajena:
En el balcón del sueño despierto.
Despierto a un mar de Atlántida, y enigmas arcanos.
Buceo como sirenapirata las rocas de moluscos, orfeo
mis alabanzas de una época que ya no existe.
Canto con el sueño de los gorriones a Odiseo
al otro lado del mundo, con un compás de estrellas
y navíos marinos anclados en el cielo de las constelaciones.
Como sirenapirata desciendo a las profundidades del mar
para dar oídos nuevos a los cantos de las diosas, para evocar
el sonido del mármol lijado por el roce del viento de Meltemi.
Evoco el sonido del trigo arañando el cielo del soplo egeo.
Sin titubear me arrullo en las orillas de barro en la arena
para hincharme de viento en la espiral del sueño.
Sirenapirata entonces, un personaje o ser híbrido cuya hibridez se suma a la propia hibridez de la misma sirena y que, además, vive necesariamente entre el aire y el mar, reconciliando en su cuerpo dos mundos que son, en última instancia, irreconciliables, y sin otra opción que nadar, divagar, meditar.
Habiendo establecido esta especie de sujeto poético liminal, Ivonne desecha, en los treinta y nueve poemas que le siguen a esta pieza inicial, toda mención más o menos abstrusa a las mitologías que, queramos o no queramos, nos son denominador común y, aparte de las propias sirenas, no vuelve a nombrar nada a lo que realmente nos podamos asir o agarrar. No se trata del puro name dropping, al fin y al cabo, ni de simplemente homenajear a la tradición valiéndose de la estrategia cómoda de la referencialidad, sino de crear un universo poético con un espacio pero sin tiempo y sin lugar más allá de la palabra y del silencio. O acaso sí tiene tiempo, acaso sí tiene lugar: un tiempo y un lugar íntimo, propio, privado, accesible sólo por medio de las resonancias de las palabras y de la en última instancia inefable vivencia personal. Así, en “Enamorada del cielo”, la voz poética nos cuenta de sus extravíos y de sus encuentros:
Enamorada del cielo, ando sin pies
en mí misma extraviada. Abro los ojos
para verme re!ejada. El silencio grabado
de trinos me acaricia a diario.
Todos los días me columpio en la luna.
Tus latidos ignitos despertaron
mi corazón en la palma del espacio.
Tu mano recorre patios de silencio.
Súbitamente se revela. Nuestro tiempo.
Nótese, una vez más, la importancia esencial del silencio. Por supuesto, la música y la poesía y la vida, todo, es al fin y al cabo una constante administración del silencio. En el caso de Meditar de sirenas, sin embargo, la preocupación por el silencio y sus significados es un componente mayor y central, si procede, ya que el divagar de una sirena liminal y meditabunda no tiene en rigor un centro. Tanta es la preocupación por el silencio, de hecho, que la palabra se repite veintiséis veces a lo largo del poemario y que incluso uno de los poemas del libro, y en mi opinión uno de los mejor logrados, se titula, precisamente, “Silencio”:
Hay un silencio que no dice nada.
Hay un silencio que retoña en la madrugada.
Hay un silencio. Hay silencio. Hay.
Las campanas dicen algo deshabitado
del tiempo. Hay un silencio que grita
abolengos de robles enérgicos, fichas
de familia entre los geranios. Hay rocas
que hablan de silencio en las calles
blanqueadas de cal. Hay silencio
en el trino de un gorrión. Hay silencio
en el nido de la paloma peregrina.
Hay silencio entre los monjes.
Hay silencio. Hay tatuajes
en el silencio del amor.
Porque el amor y el silencio van de la mano, como se ve en una serie de poemas de la colección: “Llueve silencio de miradas / húmedas de noche y el amor empieza” (“Chopos”), “El beso sella la humedad de las huellas / para alcanzar infinitamente el único silencio” (“El lazo”), “No hay silencio más ansiado / que los latidos bajo la cobija de nubes callejeras” (“No hay”)… Es como si, en el alboroto de las palabras, en la cacofonía de estos tiempos de mierda para la lírica, el verdadero tesoro fuera el silencio, esa comprensión más allá de lo referencial y más allá de lo obvio que, paradójicamente, contradictoriamente como una sirena, sólo se puede expresar por medio del lenguaje, por medio de las palabras. Como dice la voz poética en el poema “La corriente”:
En el fondo del mar, toqué el silencio.
La corriente pulsaba peces fosforescentes,
revoloteaban por mis tobillos en plena libertad,
no conocían ni la distancia,
ni el olvido. Esperaban silentes
el movimiento del mar.
Sus colores brillantes rozaron la piel
de mi interior. El silencio de los corales
abrió una intimidad intensa
en la aldaba de mi corazón.
Aprendí el abecedario de (a)mar.
Eso es, en definitiva, Meditar de sirenas: un recorrido por el mar inabarcable y sin embargo indispensable del abecedario para buscar el silencio y, por qué no, el amor, o algo así de intangible y gigante y que pertenece a una esfera “sin lugar ni fecha, sin espacio determinado” (“Una gota”) y, por lo tanto, en última instancia inexistente, imposible de concebir, de atrapar, de poner en palabras: “He olvidado cómo escribir un poema de amor”, dice la voz poética en “Recuerdo”. Imposible pero inevitable, según ese mismo poema:
No tengo idea cómo escribir un poema de amor,
no sé si rimarlo con otros jabalíes de fuego,
si pegar una rosa sobre el poema de peñas
que se estrellan en tardes de diluvio
de cuerpos que se anclan en una llama,
de horas que no corren, de la lentitud
de los surtidores. Cómo escribir el primer verso
de un poema inconcluso, cómo sentir el sesgo
de la luna, el camino de la cigarra. El olor de astas
del venado. Cómo sentir el hundimiento del sol
en un cantil de todo el cuerpo. Cómo sentir el éxodo
del presagio en el tiempo. Ser una costilla en el zaguán
de mi cuerpo. Ser todo y nada. Despeinarme como vela
en la chimenea del olfato. Ser eso, y mucho más.
Serán estos versos inconclusos, un poema de amor.
Como la poesía toda de Ivonne en Meditar de sirenas. Un poema de amor sin tiempo en tiempos malos, en tiempos mediocres, en tiempos normales para la lírica. Un poema de amor sin lugar para posicionarse en el mapamundi de una práctica que rompe y ha roto siempre con esa normalidad de los tiempos malos. Gracias Ivonne entonces, y ánimo, que ya vendrán tiempos peores.
